Valeria Colunga

Global Board Member – Girl Up Org., Former Next Generation Fellow

Valeria Colunga (she/her) is a 23-year-old activist, social entrepreneur and international consultant from Monterrey, Mexico. She read an MSc in Global Governance and Diplomacy (2022-2023) at the University of Oxford, where she wrote a dissertation on intergenerational justice. In 2023, Valeria was appointed by the Mexican Government as representative and negotiator for the Y20 Summit, organized by the G20 Indian Presidency. In 2021, she was appointed by the United Nations Foundation as one of the eight Next Generation Fellows to write “Our Future Agenda,” which fed young people’s policy proposals for the United Nations Secretary-General’s landmark report “Our Common Agenda.” Valeria has a dual degree in Latin American Studies and International Relations & Global Studies from The University of Texas at Austin. Valeria is a Global Board Member of Girl Up, an organization focused on advancing gender justice with operations impacting 195,000 young women and girls in 152 countries
