Professor Daniella Tilbury

Chair

Daniella Tilbury is a change-maker, policy expert and academic leader in sustainable development credited with having developed the initial frameworks for education in this field. She has acted as a policy advisor to national government agencies in Europe, Latin America and Oceania as well as travelled extensively in Africa and Asia to evaluate the investment and impact of programs in the area of sustainable development. Her early doctoral work, on frameworks for sustainable development, undertaken at the University of Cambridge, led to UN policy advisory roles and to her Chairing several UN Committees (1995 -2015). 

Jan van de Venis

DEPUTY CHAIR

Jan van de Venis is the acting Dutch Ombudsperson for Future Generations at the Lab for Future Generations. He has been vice chair of the global Network of Institutions for Future Generations since 2016 and is owner of law firm JustLaw. His practice concentrates on human rights and law in relation to sustainable development.

Derek Walker

Executive team

Wales is the only country in the world with a Well-being of Future Generations Act and the role provides advice and support to government and public bodies to take a longer-term view on policy decisions. The commissioner’s job is to protect and promote the needs of future generations. Derek Walker is the second ever Future Generations Commissioner, having started the role on March 1, 2023, when he called for ‘urgent and transformational change’ in Wales.

Jonas Mikkelsen

As Director at the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies, independent non-profit futures think tank founded in 1969, Jonas oversees the Institute’s agenda driven initiatives and alliances, hereunder its commitment to fusing futures capabilities, such as foresight, into all aspects of society, as well as creating representation for future generations in the presence.

Taylor Hawkins

Youth representative

Taylor serves as NiFG’s youth representative, working to enhance youth engagement and include their perspectives into the network’s strategic planning and work. Taylor is also Managing Director of Foundations for Tomorrow, a non-profit with the mission of advancing the protection of future generations in Australia, and an Advisor to the Our Future Agenda initiative of the United Nations Foundation, among her various other leadership roles.

ZOE Institute for future-fit economies

Secretariat & Network support

The Network Secretariat offers vital administrative support to facilitate the Network’s activities and fulfil its core purpose. Currently, the Secretariat consists of two key components: the Secretary function and the network support function. At present, ZOE Institute for future-fit economies delivers the network support function. The Secretary function is by default delivered by a network member .
